Happy New Year

Hello Bloggers

Well here we are again, the end of another year, I do hope that 2011 will be a better one for us all.

2010 is / was a very busy one in the Blake household, what with one thing and another, Family takes up a lot of our spare time.

Will you be making any New Years Resolutions?

The only one I am seriously making is to take part in the Plymouth Race for Life for Breast Cancer again, it was totally inspiring last year and I can't wait to do it.  I even enjoyed the training, going to the gym etc.

2011 is a special year for both Gary and I as we both hit a BIG birthday, one of those ending in a ZERO, can't believe it.

Just one thing left to do this morning, wishing all my friends and family a very Happy and Healthy New Year  xxxx

Christmas....

Christmas Day has been and gone in a blur.

We were very lucky and had some brilliant presents from family and friends - thank you to everyone.

We arrived at Steves just as the family descended...it was lovely to be there as Kayla and Cohen opened their presents from us all, and then the rest of us swapped pressies too, it was chaos but very enjoyable.

I was the driver, so only had a glass of wine with lunch, the rest of the time I was on non alcoholic drinks.  Lunch went well, despite using someone else's kitchen and appliances.  Gary went to work in the afternoon, and we all stayed until just after teatime, but as the temps were droppin rapidly and I had to get MIL home I decided it was time to go.

Home to put my feet up, in the peace and quiet, watch some TV, eat chocolate and general chill out.

Thats our family committments for Christmas done, we can now get on with our own celebrations, so that means staying home, doing our own thing, eating and drinking, well in between Gary and me working....

Havebeen aking lots of photos of the snow, ice etc, so I might been downloading them later.

Well its nearly Christmas, where does the time go??

Plymouth has had some of the white stuff recently, not a lot, but enough to cause chaos. It came, stayed and then froze, our local council decided that they didn't have enough grit and started rationing it only to the main roads, and the the residents to their own devices.  We had bought three bags of sand/salt ourselves a few weeks ago, but that is now just about gone, the grit bin at the bottom of our road is empty, the neighbours actually used it for clearing the road and not for their own use (as is claimed in the press !), we have a great community spirit here, but being on a steep hill, and no grit there is only so much you can do.  Debbie and I have really tried to get to work, but the roads have been treacherous, none more so than were we work, it really was a skating rink, tommorow we are getting a courier driver to come and collect us both, as they are used to driving in these conditions.

Gary's Mum doesn't understand how bad the roads actually are, she still thinks everywhere looks like it does outside of her home, roads are perfectly clear and only some snow on the pavements.  I have tried to say that if it doesn't improve we might have to re think the plans for Christmas Day, not sure she understands the issues with driving on ice ! (like crashing).

We had some very sad news a couple of evenings ago, Gary's Uncle died very suddenly, funeral early next month in Hampshire. Its very sad right before Christmas, his immediate family are obviously devestated. He was a lovely bloke, never did anything to anyone, and was alway so kind to all who knew him.  RIP.

Blimey its been a while since I wrote on my blog.

Its been a very busy few days both at work and home, with the Festivities fast approaching.

The usual monthly health problems arrived with a vengeance the day before I was due at the hospital.
Why do the NHS offer you appointments at other hospitals so you have a shorter waiting time, but then do not send your records for protocol reasons.  I arrived at Torbay Hospital and had to explain everything which has happened, the treatment I have had (well the things I could remember).  Why is it that the NHS really want to push me to have a Hysterectomy and not help me with other options.  I had to really be forceful and say No I dont want the operation at this stage.  (That might change in the future who knows).  They did actually agree that I can have my injections again for a further 6 months, so that gives me some breathing space at least to investigate some further options. OK Rant over.

Well it would appear that we could (and its a big COULD), get some snow down this way in the next few days, we shall have to wait and see, but tonnight I will transfer the work phone to my mobile, and bring the laptop home, so I can work from here if necessary tommorow.

I am supposed to be cooking Christmas Lunch for the family, at my BILs next week, just hope the weather is kind, or else we could all be staying at our own homes, eating whatever we have in the cupboard, which in my case will be a full Lunch, cos I will have all the food here - sorry guys.

Have got a shopping order due to be delivered tommorow by Sainsburys, but I suppose it depends on the weather !! might not have much to to eat over the weekend if it doesn't arrive.

Better go and get ready for work......till next time xx
