Yesterday I had a very busy day, it started with me volunteering at the Plymouth Park Run, which is run by volunteers, it's a free 5k race around Plymbridge Woods, I was a Marshall at one of the gates, making sure the runners went the right way, and keeping runners, walkers, dogwalkers and children all safe. Yesterday's race was a Plymouth Musketeer day, so the blue shirts were out in force. If you have a race near year, do try volunteering or just go along and cheer on the runners, great excuse to get out in the fresh air too.
After the fresh air, I went to Just Tracy's craft shop for a spit of crafting (more on that elsewhere), I helped Jill set up a few things on her blog too.
Then it was my second volunteering stint of the day, this time at Morrisons superstore for MacMillans Cancer, I was part of an all day collection. Standing there for a couple of hours. It surprised me the people who always stop and give you a donation, and the people who won't make eye contact, it made me realise what I do if I see people collecting.
I guess it depends on the charity who is collecting and what you like to support, for me it's the cancer type charities, and anything which involves dogs, especially if they have puppies to stroke....I'm a big softy really.
In future I will be more aware that charity collectors are volunteers giving up their time to help good causes.
If you have a spare couple of hours, please think about volunteering for a Charity. Lastly please smile at the volunteers and acknowledge them, they are human after all.
